It was a red letter day in the history of Dev Samaj College for Women, Sec-45/B and Chandigarh as the college was accredited with grade ‘A’ by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council). Earlier NAAC peer team comprising Prof. Prema Jha: Former VC, TM Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur (Chairperson), Dr. Mahua Mukherjee: Dean, Faculty of Fine Arts, Rabindra Bharati University (Member) and Dr. Jasintha Quadras: Principal, Stella Maris College (Autonomous) Chennai, Tamil Nadu (Member Coordinator) had visited DSCW, Sec-45, Chandigarh on 26th, 27th and 28th February, 2015.
The NAAC team while granting the accreditation not only appreciated the quality, dedication and commitment of faculty under the dynamic leadership of the Principal but also the well maintained infrastructure and the active role of the supportive staff with social commitment. They lauded the overwhelming response of parents, alumni and the active participation of the students’ council. They reiterated that the college had consistently maintained good academic standards which is reflected in the university results. The active participation in the co-curricular and extracurricular activities spoke well of the efforts in the overall development of the students. The achievements in the field of sports were also appreciated. Deepa, an International player, participated as a member of handball team in the 17th Asian Games held at Incheon, Korea in 2014. Sonia Battan received a certificate of participation from Guinness World Records. The Record Event was the largest Taekwondo display consisting of 585 participants and was achieved by the Taekwondo Jidokwan Sports Federation (India) in Ranga Reddy, Telangana, India on 9th November, 2014.
Chairman DSCW Managing Committee, Shriman Nirmal Singh Dhillon was of the view that this accreditation reinforces our commitment to deliver best education to our students. It is because of the dedicated efforts of members of teaching and non-teaching staff, that we have been able to build this respectable reputation for our institute.
